Nonprofit Financial Health Check
Most small nonprofits suspect something is off in their books. Few can articulate what, and fewer know how bad it is. This assessment answers that question with a written report you can hand directly to your board.
$500 flat, credited in full toward your first month of any engagement that followsWhat we assess
Ten areas, each mapped to something fixable:
- Restricted vs. unrestricted tracking: are restricted funds genuinely tracked, or commingled and reconstructed at year end?
- Reconciliations: are bank and credit accounts reconciled monthly and current?
- Chart of accounts and class structure: does your setup support grant reporting and 990 functional expenses, or does every report require manual rework?
- Grant tracking: can you produce a spend-down report per grant on demand?
- Board reporting: are monthly statements produced, and can a non-financial board member actually read them?
- Segregation of duties: who can both authorize and disburse funds?
- 990 readiness: is filing season a routine or an annual emergency?
- Vendor and W-9 compliance: 1099 exposure and missing documentation.
- Documentation and backup: do transactions have support attached?
- Cash position and runway: does leadership know, without asking, how many months of operating cash exist?
What you receive
- A one-page summary in plain language, no jargon
- Findings ranked by risk: what each is, why it matters, and what fixing it involves
- What is working, stated honestly and specifically
- A prioritized remediation sequence your team or ours can follow
If your books turn out to be clean, we will say so plainly. Being told you are fine by a firm that had every incentive to say otherwise is worth knowing, and worth sharing with your board.
What this is not
This is an operational assessment, not a compilation, review, or audit under attestation standards, and it does not replace one where your funders require it. It tells you where you stand and what to fix, in language your whole board can follow.
Find out how your books really look.
One flat fee, one written report, and the $500 is credited in full toward your first month if you engage us afterward.
